Ooit begon het al een Duitse mailorder shop: Bike-Discount. Om makkelijk aan grote partijen onderdelen te komen, maakten ze ook maar complete fietsen onder het label Radon. Inmiddels is dat merk de oude jas compleet ontgroeid. Zo erg zelfs, dat ze een volwaardige reeks fietsen in het assortiment hebben, wat niet zou misstaan tussen de grote Duitse merken. Het sponsoren van ex-Wereldkampioen Joost Enduro Boost Wichman en zijn teamgenoot Petrick Bruckner, toont ook dat het merk nu buiten Duitsland wil gaan uitbreiden.
Voor 2015 heeft Radon een aantal nieuwe én opvallende fietsen in het assortiment.
Slide 150 – 650B
De All Mountain fiets uit de reeks met uiteraard 650b wielen en 150 mm veerweg.

Swoop 165
De Swoop is de grotere broer van de Slide. Met 160 mm veerweg en een 650b voorwiel gecombineerd met een 26 inch achterwiel (Wat?? Ja…) is het in ieder geval geen fiets om de Nederlandse vaste routes te rijden, maar de going gets tough naar beneden, zal hij zich beter op zijn plek voelen. Hoe ie eruitziet, dat laat het persbericht dan weer niet zien.

The new Swoop 165 closes the gap between Freeride and Enduro like you would expect it from a Radon bike. For the first time Radon brings a bike with a 650B front wheel but 26er on the back to market. Skeen 100 29er
De Skeen is de XC/Marathon fiets. Met 29 inch wielen en 100 mm veerweg kan dit voor de gemiddelde marathon rijder zomaar eens een prima fietsje zijn. Wat opvalt is dat de achterbrug rocker van carbon gemaakt is, maar het frame juist weer niet… dat zijn we anders gewend.

The Skeen comes with totally new „clothes“ but still remains our first choice for marathon races and sportive trail rides. A totally new frame comes with shapely slight tubes and a sportive geometry. Compact, one piece carbon fiber levers show a nice connection between the 100mm travel rear end and the now upright positioned shock. The hydroformed alloy frame plays among the lightest marathon alloy frames and with its Syntace X-12 thru axle and its tapered steerer it offers a great amount of stiffness. Bodo Probst just didn´t stop at some changed optics – he really insisted on a sporty marathon race ready kinematics. With a 100mm travel and 29er wheels the new Skeen still offers way enough resources to leave the crowd behind on descents as well. |
Toegegeven, die Skeen ziet er erg clean uit en zou niet misstaan als testfiets voor volgend jaar.
